Conde Nast closing magazines

“Gourmet, the food and lifestyle magazine edited by former New York Times restaurant critic Ruth Reichl, is shutting down after owner Condé Nast determined it could no longer sustain the publication’s losses.”

Gourmet was a flaghsip title for Conde Nast. The closures come after cost reduction programs of -25% and the folding of 2 other magazines earlier this year.

3 other magazines closed as well: Modern bride,  elegant bride and cookie. The New York Times reports that staff is bracing themselves for more cuts . There are also rumours that Hearst and Time inc may follow now that the first major publisher has taken the lead.
