First look at a transparent computer screen

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas Samsung (sort of) launched a computer screen with a wow factor that got technology blogs  and magazines across the Globe buzzing. Calling the launch ‘soft’ is an understatement. Instead of a proper presentation and launch a single laptop with the screen was awaiting interested visitors on a desk accompanied by a small promotional display. The screen is 40% transparent and otherwise functions as a regular screen. Samsung also showed an mp3 player with the same technology.

Most websites and magazines got a quick glimpse and posted video’s of moderate quality. Here’s one of them (more on YouTube). This great screen could make viewing images and video a pretty special experience. Especially combined with some sort of ‘gesture’ navigation that is said to be in development, Minority report anyone?
