Visual search app Plink bought by Google

Plink , a visual search technology company has been acquired by Google. The company had only been live for four months, in which it acquired 50.000 users. Plinkart allows users to make a picture of paintings and artworks and then find out more about it online, share information and order prints.

The company will continue to work with their regular clients who can download the Plinkart software. The development team at the company will now work on Google Goggle’s  which will receive upgrades over the coming months. Google is continuing to invest in its visual search capabilities with this investment. See the post by Paul Melcher on what the possible implications could be for sellers of photography.
