For over thirty years many of those artworks have been photographed to the highest quality by Christie’s photographers and a huge archive has been built up estimated to include over a million colour transparencies and at least another million digital images. The library continues to grow with over 150,000 pictures added every year making it an extensive and unique resource not only for historical imagery, fine and decorative art but also style, colour, pattern, design and so much more.
Available from the collection is a wide selection of images from the Old Masters, British 18th Century, 19th Century Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite artists; European, Impressionist, Expressionist, Modern and Contemporary paintings; designer and antique furniture, sculpture, historical artefacts and sporting memorabilia; stained glass from the famous Tiffany workshops; exotic Chinese and Japanese artworks in ceramic and watercolour; and some of the most unusual and striking jewels and gem stones.
